a drinking club with a running problem ... To promote physical fitness among our members. To get rid of weekend hangovers. To acquire a good thirst and to satisfy it in beer. To persuade the older members that they are not as old as they feel.
Dear All,
Thank you so much for those who supported our first run on the 28 July @ Desa ParkCity. It made us to completing the event so much more comprehensive and entertaining.
Words cannot explain the gratefulness I feel for the good support you all gave during the event. The best I can offer is this sincere expression of profound gratitude. Without the amazing support of YOU and many others, this event would not happen as anticipated.
Hashing is FUN

We all meet up at the selected run site for the evening and then run the trail which has been preset by the Hare. The entire trail consists of paper marking a route ending up where we started. Hashing puts the fun back into running. Hash runs consist of hare and hounds with the group following a trail of paper set by the hares. After the run, which lasts 60 to 90 minutes, the group gathers for a fun ceremony (Circle Led By the GM)and is then off (to a watering hole for food, refreshments, and socializing) for food and beer on site.
During the run there are signs drawn for a Hash Halt, a Check or a false trail which are designed to keep everyone together and happy. Back at the start it's time for socializing, snack, water and some beers before the Circle started.
Then the best part of the evening, the Circle! Led by GM, various Hashers are charged with a variety of offences that were committed on trail, the previous week or at some other time (some of very doubtful origin). After being charged, the poor unsuspecting individual is to be sitting on ice bar and will be presented with a glass of beer (or wine or whatever - always alcoholic) that they scull down with gusto!
It really is a lot of fun! So you're interested in hashing. Maybe it's because you've seen strange paper markings on roads and trails in the areas near the park, or you've noticed a group of people on a Friday afternoon senselessly running on the road side, forest or park near by the residence area.
As grown person, running has become something different. The fun part seems to have gone away and running is something we have to do, either to stay, or get back into shape. Hashing takes us to places that we've never been before; parks, mountains and forests, and place us into situations where we socialize.
See you at the hash, Cheers!
